 Key Points of 64-Form Tai Chi Chuan Competition

Preparation Posture

Begin from the attention stance. Regulate breathing, clear the mind, relax the body, and steady the spirit.

Movements and Requirements

  1. Commencement (Qǐ Shì)
    Feet open to shoulder-width in horse stance. Knees must not extend beyond  toes.
  2. Right Embrace Tiger, Return to Mountain
    Left palm upright. Right hand sweeps horizontally not higher than shoulder, retracts to waist. Press palm in bow stance.

3.      Right Punch Under Elbow
The hook hand opens and the fist closes simultaneously; avoid grabbing when
flipping the hand upward and pulling. The hand that thrusts toward the throat should not bend at wrist when withdrawing to waist. In the empty stance final position, the front foot should not be rigid, and feet should not squeeze the crotch.

    Same as above.
  2. Left Elbow Strike Under the Fist
    Same as above.
  3. Right and Left Step Back and Repulse Monkey
    Deflecting palms should form an angle greater than 90 degrees. Front hand is at throat height, rear hand at ear height. Retreat in a zigzag pattern. In the final position, feet should not squeeze the crotch.
  4. Right Needle at Sea Bottom
    Thumb forward, four fingers down. Front toe must not turn outward. Upper body must not lean forward excessively.
  5. Right and Left Fan Through the Arm
    Front hand at throat level. Rear index finger at eyebrow level.
  6. Right Turn Body and Punch
    Pivot the foot sufficiently to avoid an outward splay of the feet and an open crotch.
  7. Left and Right Advance Repulse Monkey
    Striking palm at face level. When stepping forward, heel must land first.
    when deflecting,, ball of the foot must land first.
  8. Left Needle at Sea Bottom
    Same as above.
  9. Left and Right Fan Through the Arm
    Closing hands at chest level. Framing palm at throat level.
  10. Left Turn Body and Punch
    Same as above.
  11. Right Cloud Hands
    Heel must not land first. Step opening one shoulder-width; closing step approximately 10 cm.
  12. Left and Right Parting Kick
    When lifting leg and separating foot, knee height should not drop; toes should not curl upward.
  13. Left Cloud Hands
    Same as above.
  14. Right and Left Side Heel Kick
    Knee height must not drop. Kick with heel.
  15. Parting the Wild Horse’s Mane
    Retracting foot must not touch the ground. Each of the three mane-parting moves must be completed before transitioning.
  16. Front and Back Turning Heel Kick
    When lifting leg and kicking, knee height should not drop; kick in front of hip. The reverse cross step should not squeeze the crotch.
  17. Left Grasp Sparrow’s Tail
    When executing ‘Turn Body and Kick’ and transitioning into ‘Grasp the Bird’s Tail’ on the left, one must use leg evasion technique to pass through the movement.
  18. Right Single Whip Low Posture
    Left thigh should be horizontal; right leg should be straight but not rigid, with the foot turned inward, not outward.
  19. Right Golden Rooster Stands on One Leg
    In the one-legged stance, elbow aligns with knee; thigh is raised level. Thrusting palm should extend beyond the outside of knee.
  20. Left Single Whip Low Posture
    Same as above.
  21. Left Golden Rooster Stands on One Leg
    Same as above.
  22. Right and Left Strike Tiger
    Sink and turn as you step down, sweeping out with both palms. Draw (pull)  opponent’s hand toward your chest with a parrying motion, then thrust a fist forward at the height of the opponent’s temple.

26.  Left Dragon Turns Head
Splitting hands executed front and back. Leaning
and rebound strike requires left hand on right shoulder. The "lean and spring step" is a half-horse stance (60% front, 40% back).

27.  Fair Lady Works the Shuttles
Press palm from the tanzhong acupoint, with intention in palm root, pushing upward. In the large backward crossing step, do not squeeze the crotch.

  1. Left Cross Hands
    Hands crossed: left outside, right inside. Crossing height at throat level.

29.  Closing Posture
Both hands turn inward while simultaneously pivoting on the right ball of the foot.

Flash Palm (Shǎn Zhǎng)

"Flash Palm" is a term from Chinese martial arts (Wushu or Kung Fu). The name describes the technique's characteristics:

  • Flash (閃 - Shǎn): This means to dodge, evade, or move with lightning speed. It implies that the technique is executed with incredible quickness and agility, making it hard to see or counter.

  • Palm (掌 - Zhǎng): This refers to a strike using the palm of the hand, as opposed to a fist.

Therefore, Flash Palm is a palm strike that is delivered with extreme speed, often combined with evasive body movement. The user might dodge an incoming attack and instantly counter with a swift, powerful palm strike to a vulnerable area of the opponent's body. It is a common technique name in many martial arts styles, especially in internal styles like Baguazhang, which emphasizes circular movement and rapid changes.

In popular culture, the term is famously associated with the character Zhang Wuji in Jin Yong's (金庸) wuxia novel The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber (倚天屠龍記). It is one of his signature skills.


閃掌 (Shǎn Zhǎng)

「閃掌」是中國武術中的一種技法名稱,它形象地描述了該招式的特點:

  • 閃 (Shǎn): 意為閃躲、避開,形容身法或出手如電光石火般迅速。強調的是動作的敏捷與出其不意,讓對手難以察覺和防禦。

  • 掌 (Zhǎng): 指使用手掌進行的攻擊,而非拳頭。

因此,閃掌是一種結合了閃避身法與快速反擊的掌法。運用者通常在閃開對方攻擊的瞬間,以極快的速度出掌,擊打對手的要害部位。這是一種在許多武術流派中都會出現的技術,尤其是在八卦掌等內家拳中,因其注重繞圈走轉和快速的招式變化,與「閃掌」的理念十分契合。

在流行文化中,這個招式最著名的是出現在金庸的武俠小說《倚天屠龍記》中,是主角張無忌的招牌武功之一。

 

 

六十四式太極拳競賽重點

 

  預備式:開始 ,調息淨念 ,體鬆神定

1.   

兩腳打開一肩寬度成馬步,膝蓋不超過腳尖。

2.  右抱虎歸山

立左掌,右手橫掃不過肩,收於腰,弓步按掌。

3.  右肘底捶

        吊手鬆開和握拳一開一合要同步,扳時不可用抓。刺喉的手收至腰時不可有折腕。虛步定勢完成時,前腳不可僵直,兩腳不可夾襠

4.  左抱虎歸山

同上

5.  左肘底捶

       同上

6.  右左倒攆猴

         閃掌兩手角度要大於90度,前手與喉同高,後手耳部高度。退步時採之字形退法。定式兩腳之間不可夾襠。

7.  右海底針

        拇指朝前四指朝下前腳尖不可外斜,上身不可前傾過多。

8.  右左扇通臂

 前手與喉嚨同高後手食指與眉同高

9.  右轉身撇身捶

扣腳角度要夠以免呈兩足外八開襠狀

10. 左右進攆猴

撲面掌臉的高度,上步時腳跟先著地,閃掌時前腳掌著地。

11. 左海底針

       同上

12. 左右扇通臂

合手胸部高,架掌喉嚨高。

13. 左轉身撇身捶

同上

14.    右雲手

        不可腳跟先著地。開步內要一肩寬,併步內要10公分寬。

15.    左右分腳

提腿分腳時膝蓋高度不下落,腳尖不翹。

16.    左雲手

     同上

17.    右左側身蹬腳

        膝蓋高度不下落,用腳跟蹬。

18.    野馬分鬃

收腳不點地。野馬分3、要完成才可變招。

19.    前後迴身蹬腳

         提腿蹬腳時,膝蓋高度不下落,蹬在胯前。倒插步不可夾襠。

20.    左攬雀尾

        迴身蹬腳轉左攬雀尾過門要逃腿

21.    右單鞭下式

        左大腿呈水平,右腳要直而不僵,腳掌要內扣,不可外翻。

22.    右金雞獨立

獨立步肘對膝,大腿抬平,刺掌要超過膝蓋外。

23.    左單鞭下式

      同上

24.    左金雞獨立

      同上

25.    右左打虎

沉轉落步雙盪掌,扳手至胸前貫拳太陽穴高,直退時雙採虎口朝上不可折腕

26.    左龍回頭

    挒手為前後挒。靠為左手拊於右肩上。靠彈步型為(前六後四)的半馬步

27.    玉女穿梭

     按掌由膻中意在掌根往上搓。大倒叉步不可夾襠。

28.    左十字手

      兩手左外右內,十字交叉的高度在喉嚨。

29.    收式  兩手內翻前同時輾右腳掌。
